Megan loves being in the thick of all things theatre, but her ultimate goal is to promote theatre to the world of non-theatre people. It was the same when she was the theatre writer for blogTO, or the Fringe Correspondent for CBC Radio One‘s Here and Now, as it is as the founder of Mooney on Theatre. Her basic belief is that there is theatre/performance out there for everyone to love, they just need to find it. This is not to be confused with the idea that everyone should love theatre for theatre’s sake, in fact, as obsessed as she is with theatre, even *she* doesn’t love all types of theatre.

Fringe for Free – Candida, Tuesday 7:15pm

contest-web-graphic 5 stars isn’t a particularly common sight over at EYE weekly’s Fringe coverage, but Candida managed it.  Now, as mentioned previously, beauty is in the eye of the beholder, but this one garnered several postive comments, including: “Niagara On The Lake is in trouble, because now I can get top notch Shaw performances in Toronto – and for only ten dollars!”  It was also “recommended” 15 times on the article.

Wanna see what all the fuss is about?  Well, by now you have probably guessed that we have a pair of tickets to give away.  These are for the 7:15pm performance of Candida at the Innis Town Hall (Venue 20) on Tuesday July 7th.

To enter the draw, all you need to do is leave a comment* sometime before 5:15pm Tuesday.

Fringe for Free: Charlie’s Having a Baby, Tuesday 3:15

contest-web-graphic Here at Mooney on Theatre we’re big believers in beauty is in the eyes of the beholder.  It’s one of the reasons we don’t do starred reviews.  I may love something that you would hate, and vice versa.

Well, the Fringe is an excellent place to see this effect in action.  Take Charlie’s Having a Baby for instance.  It didn’t fare so well by the EYE reviewer, but then received 5 positive comments, and 7 ‘agree’ clicks to the comments talking about how enjoyable the show is.

Not having seen it I can’t comment, but from what I’ve read it seems like a fun way to spend an hour.  You may not walk away with a lesson, but who needs a lesson anyway?

And…  You can see it for FREE!  We’re giving away a pair of tickets to the Tuesday, July 6 performance at 3:15 at St. Vladimir’s Theatre (Venue 1).

To enter the draw, all you need to do is leave a comment* sometime before 1:15pm Tuesday.

Fringe for Free: Brother, Can You Spare Some Pants – Tuesday at 4:15 at the Fringe Club

contest-web-graphic  Okay folks, you’re in for a treat here.  Technically we haven’t reviewed this one yet, but I went to it even though someone else on the Mooney on Theatre team had claimed it.  So, I won’t go into details, but I will say, the Williamson Playboys were fabulous.  Probably one of my favourite Fringe experiences so far this year.

With all that said, we’re giving away a pair of tickets to Tuesday’s 4:15 showing of Brother can you Spare Some Pants at the Fringe Club (Tranzac Club).

To enter the draw, all you need to do is leave a comment* sometime before 2pm Tuesday to be entered for tickets to the show.
