It was great to end the first night of the Fringe Festival on a light, happy musical note. The Giant’s Garden at the George Ignatieff Theatre was surprisingly hilarious. I did expect a charming little fairy-tale but I had no idea that it would be this witty and humorous.

Newfoundland Actors Bring Toronto Poet’s First Play to Life
Toronto-based poet Shannon Bramer is now wearing a different hat –that of playwright. Her first play, MonaRita, had its premiere in St. John’s, NL, in 2010, and is now set to tour this summer, including stops in Bramer’s current city, Toronto, and her home town of Hamilton. Bramer is thrilled that the original cast is bringing her work to a larger audience across Canada. “I can’t imagine other actors doing the show now. They’re my girls!”, she said. Historic architecture inspires innovative spy-thriller
Urban Jungle Theatre’s Jungle 1: i Spy part of new wave of site-specific theatre unveiled at Toronto’s Fringe Festival
TORONTO, ON – Inspired by the old stones and cold grey cement of a well-known Toronto landmark, a visionary live–action outdoor spy thriller will soon play at the upcoming Toronto Fringe Festival July 6th-17th, 2011.
The entire six member ensemble of Tononto-based Urban Jungle Theatre (www.urbanjungletheatre.ca/ispy), creaters and producers of Jungle 1: i Spy, used the unique blend of old and new architecture of Central Technical School in the city 80’s lively Annex area to stimulate and craft the scenes for the play which will be performed on-site at the old school. Kinetic Elements is ready for their reSURGEncere
SURGEnce is a collection of dances that examines society and the myriad of issues therein. Through contemporary dance, Kinetic Elements deconstructs and transcends the boundaries of the labels that society puts upon us. reSURGEnce tackles issues ranging from the small-scale pressure to fit in and look a certain way to the grand-scale G20 Summit that took place in Toronto last June.
Kinetic Elements is comprised of a host of dancers with different dance backgrounds from across the GTA. Kinetic Elements’ Eternal Eclipse had a successful run at the 2010 Toronto Fringe Festival. You get The Soaps! The Live Improvised Soap Opera.
