Tonight, we sat in pews at a church which had that solemn old church smell to see a thoughtful, moving play. It shares one man’s questions about Christianity, Judaism and Islam — via knitting. The Knitting Pilgrim, workshopped by Ergo Arts Theatre and playing at the Toronto Fringe Festival, is indeed a beautiful work of art that culminates in three knitted tapestries. Each one represents a religious faith.

Who are the criminals in Write in the Kisser/Dumb Ax Productions‘s new show, In Ireland We Rented A Car From Criminals? Playing at the Streetcar Crowsnest Guloien Theatre as part of the 2019 Toronto Fringe Festival, we never do get an answer to that question in this hour-long show.
Kitchsy, authentic, yet ultimately unclear in its messaging, The Healing Show: Cosmic Cures for Catastrophic Cases, presented by SoZo Media, is a quirky look into the life of an energy healer. It’s currently playing at Eastminister United Church Sanctuary as part of the Toronto Fringe Festival.

Petroleum: A Triptych paints a damning portrait of society through dance. Playing as part of the Toronto Fringe Festival at the Streetcar Crowsnest Mainspace, this is not your granddaughter’s feel-good dance recital.
Clotheswap was officially the first show of the 2019 Toronto Fringe Festival and if you believe that the first show is indicative of the whole festival, then this is going to be a great year, because I thought Clotheswap was phenomenal.
