Learn how to be your own effective publicist with this one-day seminar

Hot on the heels of my post about Tips for Putting on a Fringe Show – which has a healthy dose of publicity suggestions, here’s an opportunity to dig into publicity a bit more heavily.

This is a one-day seminar on how to be your own publicist.

I’ll be checking it out, and I’d love some company, so come hang out with me and teach yourself how to publicize yourself effectively at the same time.  Particularly handy is the money-back guarantee if you don’t find the seminar valuable.

Here’s the information from the press release:

“The Shehori Brothers are highly respected in the industry as publicists & writers/producers of live theatre and television. And in addition to working with established artists, they take a lot of time to help up-and-comers with their careers.  Besides being talented, they’re generous as well, which I find a rare combination in this business."

Richard Ouzounian – Theatre Critic: The Toronto Star & Variety

"The Shehori brothers are tireless, knowledgeable and above all universally respected in the Canadian entertainment industry. Having them in your corner gives you a lot better chance of surviving the ridiculously tough battle that is Canadian show business."

Steve Patterson – Host of CBC’S The Debaters

"Daniel and Steven Shehori have the business and art of comedy in their blood. They are devoted advocates of young aspiring comedians, writers and actors, and they have the innate ability to understand what it takes to promote, produce and develop a career in the entertainment biz. They have done an extraordinary job publicizing the Second City and the 8-year run of the Tim Sims Theatre."

Andrew Alexander – Proprietor & Executive Producer of the Second City

“Over the past 5 years the Canadian Comedy Awards has had the pleasure of working with Daniel and Steven Shehori. From assisting in PR and media launches to the planning of live events, and of course serving on committees due to their reputation as top-flight live show producers and comedy writers; working with them has not only been professionally rewarding but a great experience.”

Tim Progosh – Founder: The Canadian Comedy Awards

“Daniel and Steven have an exceptional grasp of the industry and have always steered my company in the right direction. I’ve had the Shehoris work on a number of productions for me, including shows for Louis C.K. (which was voted top show in Toronto in 2008), as well Paula Poundstone and Debra Digiovanni. They are the link between selling out and not.”

Jake Labow – Jake Labow Productions

“I’ve dealt with many people in entertainment. Writers, directors, producers, agents, network executives, and talent. Well, Daniel and Steven possess a rare combination of skills that elude most of them. They’re brilliantly creative in generating fresh ideas and amazingly savvy in making them come to life. Thinking. Doing. And now they’re going to teach people? Good for them. Better for us.”
Ron Tite — Vice President, Creative Director: Sharpe Blackmore euro RSCG

“Daniel and Steven Shehori taught us so much about comedy event production and promotion! Laughing Like Crazy, our signature comedy fundraiser has been a huge success – 5 years running. We owe much of that success to the direction and guidance of the Shehori Brothers.”

Ellen Ostofsky – Director of Fundraising & Special Projects: Mood Disorders Association of Ontario

BIO FOR THE SHEHORI BROTHERS

Daniel and Steven Shehori are an award-winning young duo based out of Toronto. They are quite possibly the busiest siblings working on the Canadian entertainment scene today. Between them, they’ve garnered a Gemini Award nomination, a Dora nomination, plus 14 Canadian Comedy Award nominations (and two wins!) as writers, directors and producers.

They’ve spent several
years as head comedy writers for the internationally renowned show Naked News TV, and were co-creators and producers of the Second City Toronto’s Shehori Brothers’ Character Night – the longest running show in the history of the organization. Working alongside the creators of the hit Tony Award-winning Broadway musical The Drowsy Chaperone, the Shehori Brothers co-produced the critically acclaimed production An Awkward Evening with Martin & Johnson, which went on to be nominated for a Canadian Comedy Award.

In 2006, Daniel & Steven co-wrote and produced the hit one-man comedy show Swiss Family Guy Robinson, which played to rave reviews and sold-out houses in Canada and the U.S (including memorable slots on Entertainment Tonight and the 2006 Canadian Comedy Awards).

In 2008, the brothers wrote, directed and produced the hit theatrical production One-Woman Show, starring Marco Timpano. They also begun work on their own animated series Minotauk Falls, which has been dubbed “The most striking animated effort I’ve seen since a certain yellow family turned up in Springfield.” by Simpsons producer Tim Long.

The brothers were senior writers for the 2008 Genie Awards and the 2006, 2007 & 2008 Gemini Awards. They also served as senior writers for The Hour with George Stroumboulopoulos. Between them, they’ve made memorable personal appearances as actors and pop culture pundits on the Comedy Network’s Punched Up  and Cream of Comedy, MuchMusic’s Video on Trial and Stars Gone Wild, and MuchMoreMusic’s Listed.

Not to toot their own horns, but this recent quote from slickrick_1968 speaks volumes about the Shehori Brothers: "Great eBayers! Lightning fast payment! Would recommend! A+++++++++"… Yes, you read right. That’s NINE plusses.
