The House of Bernada Alba opens September 22, 2009

From Press Release

The House of Bernada Alba

By Federico Garcia Lorca
Translated by Tony Kline

One of the most celebrated Hispanic plays in the world.

Bernarda, a 60 year old woman who wields total control over her five daughters,
has just buried her second husband. In line with family tradition,
she has imposed a severe eight year mourning period on her daughters.
The women highly object to the order but have no choice but to obey
their mother’s wishes. What follows will leave audiences profoundly moved.

Each performance will be preceded by readings of selected poems by Lorca
and spoken above a score of traditional “Canto Ondo” music.

"humorous, deeply touching
and at its core, a heart breaking tragedy"
