A Live Cinematic Interpretation of Jean-Paul Sartre’s No Exit

Nightwood Theatre is proud to present the award-winning Toronto premiere of Jean-Paul Sartre’s famous masterpiece No Exit by the Electric Theatre and the Virtual Stage Company.

No Exit gets a 21st century treatment as a ‘live movie’ in this extraordinary, hybrid film and theatre performance conceived and directed by Kim Collier – one of the most exciting Canadian directors of this generation, in her Toronto debut.  In Collier’s vision the characters are literally locked up together and the viewer voyeuristically participates in their isolation through cinematic-style live projection.

The hotel room where Sartre’s three characters must endure each other’s company for eternity is situated in the main chamber of Buddies in Bad Times Theatre.  Their entrapment will be intensified as the actors will be literally confined with the four walls of a tiny room.  Through a series of hidden cameras audiences will be able to watch with cinematic intimacy, a meticulously staged live film of what goes on inside the box.

Details:  Runs from Nov. 11 – Nov. 21.  Tuesday to Sunday at 8 p.m., Nov. 13, 18 & 20 at 1:30 pm.  Single tickets: $20-$45 and PWYC Sundays.  Buddies in Bad Times Theatre (12 Alexander Street).  Tickets are available by calling 416-955-0111 or online at www.nightwoodtheatre.net
