Excerpted from press release:

You’ll rarely see solo cabaret onstage at the Toronto Fringe Festival. It’s a hard gig to pull off – you need personality, vocal chops, charisma, and stories to tell. Cabaret artist & rising star Ryan G. Hinds brings it all, and strips it down to its bare roots at the Toronto Fringe Festival, Annex Theatre for 7 intimate shows in July, backed by a fabulously talented live musical trio.

Starry Notions debuted to a packed house in September 2014, opening Hinds’ popular season-long cabaret residency as Artist-In- Residence at Buddies in Bad Times Theatre.

In Starry Notions Ryan G. Hinds weaves intimate storytelling with Disney villains, Aznavour chansons, Grace Jones tangos, CanCon classics, Roy Orbison ballads and Kander & Ebb, building to a chance meeting on a San Francisco bus that emphasizes the importance of holding ferociously onto your dream.

Hinds is backed by a trio of incredible musicians. Musical Director & Accompanist Mark Selby is a sought-after accompanist of every major performer on Torontoʼs cabaret scene, at venues ranging from the Glenn Gould studio and St. Lawrence Centre to Stratford and Buddies in Bad Times. Bassist Ross McIntyre has performed with elite musicians from around the world including Wynton Marsalis, Ed Robertson, and Jim Cuddy. Percussionist Julian “Fatsound” Clarke is a current member of Brunswick (Folk/ Rock), Jacksonlive (12-piece Michael Jackson tribute), LZRWLF Massive (Souljazz/Hip-Hop).
