Megan loves being in the thick of all things theatre, but her ultimate goal is to promote theatre to the world of non-theatre people. It was the same when she was the theatre writer for blogTO, or the Fringe Correspondent for CBC Radio One‘s Here and Now, as it is as the founder of Mooney on Theatre. Her basic belief is that there is theatre/performance out there for everyone to love, they just need to find it. This is not to be confused with the idea that everyone should love theatre for theatre’s sake, in fact, as obsessed as she is with theatre, even *she* doesn’t love all types of theatre.
You have three more chances to check out Contrary Company’sYou Fancy Yourself at Theatre Passe Muraille. You might want to consider changing whatever plans you already have so that you can fit this one in. If for no other reason, than to revel in Maja Ardal’s virtuoso performance.
So, school’s out for a couple weeks. Kids are now roaming around the house. You want to do something fun with them, but don’t know what you should do. Well, I have a suggestion! Second City has two shows running, one before Christmas, and one after. Both shows play at noon, so it’s a nice way to break up the day. For more information, see the press release below:
There was all kinds of food, and after the food, there was cake…
Oh. Wait. I figured since a line in the a song in the show captured my feelings enough that I could use it as the title, then maybe I could use the next line as my review. But no, that second bit doesn’t really belong here. There was no food, and no cake. But the Mirvish production of My Mother’s Lesbian Jewish Wiccan Wedding certainly was great.
If I had to choose one word to describe the Momentum production of The Salon Automaton showing at Buddies in Bad Times Theatre until December 12 it would be “creepy”. For some people creepy is good, for some creepy is bad, and for others creepy is, well, it just is. I’m more in the ‘just is’ category, so for me this is just an observation, but one to keep in mind.
