All posts by Megan Mooney

Megan loves being in the thick of all things theatre, but her ultimate goal is to promote theatre to the world of non-theatre people. It was the same when she was the theatre writer for blogTO, or the Fringe Correspondent for CBC Radio One‘s Here and Now, as it is as the founder of Mooney on Theatre. Her basic belief is that there is theatre/performance out there for everyone to love, they just need to find it. This is not to be confused with the idea that everyone should love theatre for theatre’s sake, in fact, as obsessed as she is with theatre, even *she* doesn’t love all types of theatre.

Fringe Review: The Intrepid Project – Shoeless Productions

I enjoyed The Intrepid Project, which is playing at the BYOV Intrepid Travel.  Certainly not high-brow, and not perfect, but pretty darn funny.

To give you an idea of the type of show it is, my favourite part was a man clad in silver spandex shorts compulsively dancing whenever music was played.  The others dancing were fun too, but mr. silverpants, he was my favourite.  Time travel and silver spandex pants, what’s not to like?

Fringe Buzz – What we’re hearing about Toronto Fringe Festival 2009

Word of mouth is the key to Fringe.  So, we’re gonna let you know what we’ve heard, not just tell you about what we’ve seen.

Be sure to let us know what buzz you’ve heard in the comments section below.

I’ll be posting throughout the day on twitter from my blackberry, so feel free to follow me @mooneyontheatre for information ranging from what show’s I’ve heard are good, to what you should get if you’re dying to buy me a drink.

If you’re tweeting Fringe updates, use the hashtag #FringeTO so that other folks can follow along, and I can include you in the buzz posts.

Now, for the sum-up of buzz from the last few days.  It’ll be a bit longer than usual, but is a good way to get an idea of what you might want to see over the course of the weekend:

contest-web-graphic Time for another contest…

This time you have a chance to win two tickets to a pair of tickets to Jem Rolls’ Leastest Flops.

I’m pretty sure if you look up “Fringe Veteran” in the dictionary (you know, if Oxford Canada still printed such a thing…) you’d see a picture of jem rolls.  In case you don’t know what he looks like, this seems a perfect opportunity to find out.

These two tickets are for the Saturday July 4nd performance, at 8:45pm.

To enter the contest, just leave a comment* sometime before 6pm today (Saturday) to be entered for tickets to tonight’s show.
