I got to see Cam Baby by Mischief Theatre during the 2016 Toronto Fringe Festival at Factory Theatre.

This dark comedy is as hilarious as it is heartbreaking. Clara is a trying to navigate her relationship with her new boyfriend, Tim. At the same time roommate and landlord, Joseph, is secretly filming her with the help of his girlfriend, Natalie, and friend, Damien, for a live webcam feed.

Everything about this show gets an A+. I thought that writer Jessica Moss really hit it out of the park. From beginning to end, I was blown away.

This evening I had the opportunity to watch Happiness™ by May Can Theatre, playing at Theatre Passe Muraille in the 2016 Toronto Fringe Festival .

Peter and James are two charming salesmen out to sell YOU happiness. The show begins with bright lights, loud music, and two cheerful young men running in and out of the audience in an attempt to pump us up. They explain how they have the secret to happiness, while doing an impressive dance routine.

But happiness isn’t as simple as they make it out to be.

Fratwurst presents  Dan’s Inferno at the 2016 Toronto Fringe Festival playing at the Helen Gardiner Phelan Playhouse.

A comedy about an exceptionally average man named — you guessed it — Dan. After an accident that results in his death, Dan ends up in purgatory. There he is given the choice of either going to heaven or hell and in an attempt to save the woman he loves, Beatrice, he follows her to hell.

Dan’s Inferno is hilarious, and filled with quick-witted jokes that are brutally frank.

Tonight I saw Mullet’s Ghost Story by meMullet at the 2016 Toronto Fringe Festival.

The show centers around Jean-Paul Mullet, a zombie clown, who tries to tell the audience a ghost story but ends up resurrecting the ghost of his past lover, played by Hilary June Hart. In this comedy, the audience gets to see the both of them rekindle their oddball romance.

Ferocious Smirk Productions brings Doomed, a solo performance created by and starring Jorge Moreira, to the 2016 Toronto Fringe Festival at the Factory Theatre Mainspace.

Jorge Moriera  recalls growing up in a Portuguese family in Toronto and how he progressed into adulthood, all while learning how to manage A.D.D.

When reading up on the show, I was intrigued. I haven’t watched many shows that discuss learning disabilities and, as someone with one as well, I was excited to see what kind of performance could come of it. I had never really thought about it before, but the idea of being represented felt great! If only for the sake of knowing that people with similar disadvantages are not being controlled by them.

Unfortunately, I felt let down.
