Set in the heart of Little Italy – on Henderson Avenue to be exact – this new side-splitting comedy, about an unlikely friendship that defies age and cultural barriers, is a celebration of the innocent-at-heart.
This is the third original play written by actor, and founder of Zocalo Toronto, Vladimir Jon Cubrt. The others, The Weeping Salsa and Flin Flonning (in which Vlad starred), received independent productions at, respectively, The Theatre Centre (2009) and The Diesel Playhouse (2007). Annabelle is a country girl whose bad times are all around her – „cause jail is big! But that‟s ok, „cause she likes new experiences and now that she no longer is stalking the man she loves or seeking revenge on those she doesn‟t, she spends a lot of her time in the jail‟s liberry, “Did you know that the Grand Canyon has an edge of approximately 1,066 kilometres? That‟s way more edgy than Adam Lambert‟s eye liner!”
Annabelle is a white trash alt country singer/guitar player who finds herself in jail on “excusable” homicide charges. She tells her story about jail life, family life and life with The Biter – the man who got away – almost – through singing and talking with the audience.
