Radioactive Drag Queens from the Year 3000

From press release: Radioactive Drag Queens from the Year 3000 promises to be the most fabulous and campy sci-fi comedy at the 2011 Fringe! It tells the story of Mademoiselle Betty Croquet, a struggling present-day drag queen who confronts her deepest fears when she’s visited by time-travelling radioactive colleagues from the future.

The show combines two campy worlds – drag queen shows, and 1950s science fiction movies – in a zany, mad-cap comedy with plenty of twists and turns, including an evil saboteur, cases of mistaken identity, and a nuclear-powered robot drag queen who finds love in all the wrong places.

This piece plays at Factory Theatre Mainspace. Performances: July 8 at 8:45pm; July 9 at 3:30pm; July 10 at 10:30pm; July 12 at 3:00pm; July 13 at 1:45pm; July 14 at 7:30pm; July 17 at 5:15pm.

We Few They Many

From press release: A group of Toronto based activists come together during the G20 of 2010. As the events of the summit unfold, so do the personal lives of those involved. This is a story for those of us battling what it means to be young, to desire a future, a family without the foundation of a career or a plan. What it is to be of a media obsessed and politically apathetic generation. What it is to seek justice and change in the midst of a conservative chaos. Can these five activists make being political “cool” again? Can they change the views of those battling against them during the summit, or will the media win out once again? This story is for those of us that have dreams of a more progressive Canada as we slowly succumb to corporatism and rampant privatization.

This piece plays at Factory Theatre Mainspace. Performances: July 6 at 8:15pm; July 8 at 3:00pm; July 11 at 10:15pm; July 12 at 6:30pm; July 13 at 5:15pm; July 15 at Noon; July 17 at 7:00pm.
