Cheap Theatre in Toronto for the Week of August 6th, 2012

Forty-Five for Twenty (Or Less)

Stress on the forty-five and the or less – this week’s cheap theatre post offers you forty-five shows that only cost $15 each. Why? It’s SummerWorks! It’s time again for that late-summer festival showcasing theatre that encourages risk, questions, and creative exploration while insisting on accessibility, integrity and professionalism.

The festival runs August 9th through 19th and features a wider range of performance art – theatre, music, and even a live art series. It also explores some subversive and potentially controversial subject matter (try Dare Night: Lockdown or see what Nina Arsenault’s got planned).

Here’s what you need to know to get the most out of this year’s SummerWorks:

The Festival – check out the lineup to get a better feel for what SummerWorks is workin’ on.

The Tickets – if a few (or a lot) of shows grab your attention, a number of affordable package deals are available.

The Schedule – plan your SummerWorks experience by date or location.

And the best part: check back with Mooney on Theatre throughout the festival, as our team of theatre-lovers will be guiding you through with articles and features, including reviews of every one of the forty-five plays.
